When I'm not designing greeting cards at my work-from-home job, developing products and directing artwork during my day job or trying to sleep but without any real success (who needs sleep anyway?) - that's when I get to take a creative break and say "Paper Goodness!" The dedicated blog of my paper company, TamTam Design Studio, Paper Goodness represents the many divine inspirations dear to my heart. If you have any comments, thoughts, ideas, or inspirations - or if you make the coolest things ever - I would love to hear from you! Happiness and Hugs =) xoxo, tam

Hello Lovelies! I've been so busy but I don't want to keep the photos away (or suspense up) for any longer! The Grand Opening of Paper Stories was such a huge success! A very special thank you to all of my wonderful friends and family who traveled both near and far to celebrate with both Kelly and I. Here is the Grand Internet Reveal of PAPER STORIES- Boutique and Workspace:
Paper Stories is an eco-friendly paper boutique and workspace located at the Shops of Station Square, on the nationally acclaimed Prairie Crossing conservation community in Grayslake, IL. An eclectic mix of modern style and motif, two in-house designers, and bursts of color counterbalance vintage printing presses and a reflection on creating art as it was done in the past. From the refinement and revival of the handwritten note to the painstakingly hand-set type of a story written long ago - this is our Paper Stories.
Paper Storiesis the shared vision and common goal of both Kelly Maron (of Paper Stories Letterpress) and Tami Rasmussen (of TamTam Design Studio).
Our concept includes:
Providing unique workshops and creative classes that explore each the book and paper arts, independent craft movement, and DIY generation.
Reflecting on and preserving the creation of art as it was once done in the past.
Promoting the art of correspondence and reviving and refining the lost art of the handwritten note.
Creating a boutique to sell our designs as well as the designs of other eco-friendly, independent artists whom we both admire.
Encouraging collaboration and creativity through the sharing of workspace.
Always doing the best we can by our precious planet earth.
If you have any questions or comments you can reach both Tami and Kelly in one place via: firstname.lastname@example.org
And just in case you are confused or wondering... ;)
We will still be producing our own independent wholesale and custom card lines under our same name and company. Nothing has changed there... except that TamTam Design Studio Headquarters now reside within the Paper Stories - Boutique and Workspace, alongside Paper Stories Letterpress, and we no longer sprinkle cards with glitter in our kitchen! Wahoo! We are the same company- only better. And we get to work with our dear paper friend in a hip, new place. Yah!
If you are in Chicago - We'd love you to join us at the Paper Stories Grand Opening!
Mila at GCA just sent me a few photos from the LOUIE'S Gala last month and I wanted to share just this one. Not the best photo of me- but of course my mom says she thinks it's good and that I look sooo happy! (Don't all mother's say that!) But really... it truely was a surreal and VERY proud and happy evening. Yah!
Thanks to to all of you for supporting me and my lil' card company. We love you.. and without all of you this little dream of mine would never be possible!

Since more and more cupcake cards are getting ready for departure to our beloved Paper Source everyday... I thought I'd take a peek over at the official Paper Source Blog to see what was new and exciting on their end. You can only imagine how totally tickled "plum" I was to find this fun P.S. Colorscope that posted just a few weeks ago.
If you missed it like I did here's a quick recap. Pick 2 of your favorite P.S. colors from above or view larger by clickinghere. Then it's all a matter of determining your favorites and reading up to see if those colors actually reflect your personality. Do your choices sound like you? Even if they don't- if still fun right? ;) Mine do sound like me to some extent... although it certainly would be easier if I could pick just two!
If I must though, here are my top pick's:
Big surprise- I know!
Time to make a trip to P.S. for some new papers treats soon! (A little bird also tells me they have the cutest little cupcake in-stock just calling your name!) Visit! Visit!
I wanted to share a few more photos from my very first NSS Booth #1930 with you all, and in addition I have some very exciting news to share!
I am happy to announce that while attending the 2009 National Stationery Show we took home our very first LOUIE Award as the "Rising Star" winner in the Above $3 category. This was such an honor alone that I could really not believe my own ears when TamTam was called at the end of the evening and awarded the 2008 LOUIE "Card of the Year" Award! (I don't think I have ever won anything in my life besides a coloring contest! Haha!) Both LOUIE'S went to the same "Sweet Birthday Wishes" card.
So here it is! My Cupcakes in all their sparkling glory!
The LOUIE Awards -the greeting card equivalent of the Academy Awards, took place Monday evening at a gala at the Capitalein NYC. Rising Star was a new category open to companies under 3 years in the industry- so cool! We were also a finalist for our "Merry and Bright" Christmas Greeting, which MeriMeri took the LOUIE home for. (Congrats to MM- I am a big fan of their cards!) Sharing the honor of Card of the Year is Compendium for it's win in the Under $3 category. They were also very deserving of the win and I was happy to share the designation with them. (Sweet couple too!)
Read more about this year's LOUIE Awards here orhere too if you are interested!
Anyhow, I am slowly getting back to reality and home working non-stop on orders, entering contacts, getting organized, and designing new items for a fall printing! It's been awhile since I have been this inspired and I must say - it feels amazing!
Here are some more booth photos, as promised!
All dressed up and ready to go!
My favorite part of the whole booth!
The tabletop display.
Sweet Bowl o' Business Cards!
Notice the LOUIE made an appearance on the teal cake stand!
I am happy to say we have arrived in NYC, the TamTam Booth is ready to go, and NSS begins tomorrow!!! Yah!
Here are a few peeks from Set-Up... and then it's my last BEDTIME before SHOWTIME!!!! I'll try to post more tomorrow! (Hope to see many of you then!)
Entering the Javitz to Register... I love it here.
Welcome TamTam Design Studio!
The Booth (and Mom) - fairly close to arrival time.
I was to busy admiring the walls that my mom started assembling before I remembered to take a "before" pic. Ooops! The wall were installed for me by Manny Stone Decorators and built before my arrival. Turned out awesome = immediate sigh of relief. (Please let rest of show be this easy!) The sign you see in the background comes with your booth and company name printed on it. Yuck! It was torn down almost immediately but, of course, I had to save it anyway. It will be coming home with me in my already-full suitcase. Haha.
No photos because....
We were working hard for 8+ hours.
Here we are nearing the finish line... Mom and Booth - Almost Done!
She did so good... I love my mom!
(Sorry, the photos are pretty bad and I have no time for photoshop... or make-up at this point! Eeek!)
Well, thats all for tonight, more photos tomorrow if possible. And don't forget - stop by the TamTam Booth #1930 this week if your in NYC... I promise it's even prettier in person! Yah!
It's 11:53 which means by the time I finish typing this post for the gazillionth time -- tomorrow will probably be here.
In just a few short hours I will take off to New York City and begin the set-up for our debut at the National Stationery Show 2009 (we are in booth #1930!) And although I should probably be spending my time much more wisely in these final hours there is something to be said about taking a few moments for reflecting on the events that have brought me to this particular moment in time.
A very special thank you to all who have taught me, guided me, and supported me and my products this past year.
It has truly been an amazing journey and I'm so very encouraged to see what the next year holds for us all as well.
I know there won't be much time for "reflection" in the coming days... but I do miss you all! I hope to see many of you in NYC- but for those I don't we will catch up again soon!
Well, it's tomorrow (that went quick!) and media kit CD's are still burning as I type.... still so many things left to do. (I haven't packed yet - yikes!) I will do my best to post photos of the booth all set up by Saturday evening! Fingers crossed that all goes well. T's crossed, i's dotted... you get the picture =)
Ohhh... and I almost forgot! Check this out: PaperCrave (Ok now I'm excited!)
Well hello my long lost lovelies! I'm back, if you will still have me that is... and well it's just for a minute or two... I wanted to take a second and get to blog-land today (inspired by kelly) and start by filling you in on what a whirl wind month this has been for me. (I promise I am not making excuses!) In such a short span of time I have: moved my studio-workspace, my moved home, been looking to buy my very first new home all by myself, and preparing for the TamTam Design Debut at the National Stationery Show... all at the same time! Sound exhausting... well, it has been quite so! Nevertheless, I am still dedicated to Paper Goodness and I hope that you will all await the big news I have in store for you.... more blogging to come for those who have asked... I pinky swear.
